Man admits prowling ‘spree’ and lawnmower theft
A man was sent to Drug Treatment Court after he admitted going on a month-long prowling spree.
Terry Robinson, 68, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court yesterday to four counts of prowling about a dwelling without lawful excuse.
He also pleaded guilty to trespassing into the home of Jeffrey Adams and to stealing a lawnmower valued at about $500.
The incidents took place between February 10 and March 7 in Southampton.
The summary of evidence was not read aloud in court, but Matthew Frick, for the Crown, described the timeline as a “spree”.
Aqueelah Simmons, for the defence, said her client recognised the gravity of the offences and had apologised.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos heard from court services that Robinson, of no fixed abode, may have been on a probation order at the time of the offences.
Ms Sofianos sent the case to the next Drug Treatment Court to see if he was eligible to participate in the programme.
She remanded him in custody until then.
