Man’s jail term extended for second bike theft

A man who stole a bike and a sweater on two separate dates was sentenced to six months in prison.

David Dill, 57, admitted the offences when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Dill, from Devonshire, stole a bike that had the keys left in the ignition, valued at $3,000, from outside Serpentine Liquors in Pembroke on July 2, 2025.

This occurred one day after he stole another bike in Devonshire, and about six months after he stole a sweater from Waterfront Man.

Dill was sentenced to 18 months in prison in January after pleading guilty to the Devonshire bike theft, bringing contraband into Westgate Correctional Facility and trespassing into a Dockyard building with intent to steal.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered that Dill’s six-month sentence begin after his 18-month term and be followed by two years of probation.
