Rize launches Bermuda AI guide
Rize Technologies has launched a new artificial intelligence platform designed to answer Bermuda-specific questions for visitors and residents, as local companies continue to explore practical uses for AI tools.
The company said Compass AI, now in soft launch, is trained exclusively on Bermuda information and can provide more accurate local answers than generic search engines or mainstream AI assistants.
The free service is available through a website, compass.rize.bm, and WhatsApp and allows users to ask questions about bus and ferry schedules, restaurant and pharmacy hours, beaches, events and other island information without downloading an app or creating an account.
Gilbert Darrell, chief executive of Rize Technologies, said the company built the platform after identifying what it saw as a gap in existing digital tools used by visitors to the island.
“We built Compass because we saw a gap that no existing tool was filling,” Mr Darrell said.
“Visitors arrive in Bermuda with limited time and limited local knowledge, and the tools they reach for — Google, ChatGPT, travel apps — give them generic answers that don't reflect how things actually work here.”
The company said every piece of information in the system has been verified by people who live and work in Bermuda in an effort to improve reliability and avoid outdated or inaccurate listings.
In tests by The Royal Gazette, Compass was able to provide Sunday pharmacy information and local contact numbers, while some transport-related queries produced mixed results as the platform continues its soft launch.
The platform also includes sponsored promotional messages alongside some responses, suggesting potential future advertising or partnership opportunities tied to the service.
Rize said Compass will also be a live demonstration of the company’s broader AI and software development capabilities.
