Warwick Workmen’s Club and nearby rivals PHC endured mixed fortunes at PHC Field on Sunday.

There was jubilation in the Warwick camp after they clinched promotion to the T20 Premier Division with a game to spare in the opening fixture of a double header at the Warwick ground.

However, the same could not be said for winless PHC, who were relegated from the T20 Premier Division to make a swift return to the second tier after stepping up to the top level when Western Stars pulled out of the league.

Unbeaten league leaders Warwick sealed promotion with a narrow six-run win over fellow promotion contenders Cleveland County.

PHC then took the plunge courtesy of a humbling ten-wicket thrashing against Somerset after being skittled out for 13 in just 6.4 overs.

Lorenzo Tucker, the Warwick coach, expressed his delight after his team achieved one of their goals for the season.

“We have accomplished our goal of getting back to the top flight, but we want to win all the competitions that we enter. That’s our goal, to win everything,” he told The Royal Gazette.

Tucker also praised his star-laden team, which includes Cup Match and Bermuda players Tre Manders, Kevon Fubler, Luke Horan, Malachi Jones, Kamau Leverock and Luke Fulton.

“They are very talented and probably one of the best bowling teams in the league,” he said.

“We also have Luke Horan to come back into the team, so it’s a lot of talent and a lot of options at Warwick, and we’re looking forward to continuing on with the last game of the T20, T20 KO and then getting into the 50 Overs, which should be very exciting with a lot of good teams. We’re looking forward to the upcoming competitions.”

Warwick can now clinch the T20 First Division title with victory against Devonshire in their final outing in the competition at Southampton Oval on Sunday.

Tucker’s team are in the driver’s seat in a three-horse title race along with fellow contenders Cleveland and Willow Cuts, who are also battling for the remaining promotion spot on offer and will face each other in their final fixture at Somerset Cricket Club on Sunday.

Cleveland kept their title hopes alive with an eight-wicket victory against Somerset Bridge at Sea Breeze Oval on Saturday before losing to Warwick the following day.

Cuts also remain in the hunt after prevailing against Devonshire by six wickets at Somerset Cricket Club last Saturday. They followed up with a three-wicket win against Somerset Bridge 24 hours later at Southampton Oval.
