Naphisa Smith and Hallett reigned supreme in the women’s 4.0 doubles, as the pair got the better of Sawden and Tuck Bouwens. Smith, who was making a second appearance in the tournament, also won bronze in the mixed doubles with Jasper Thomas.

“It was a great tournament and I really enjoyed playing with both of my partners,” Smith said.

“The conditions were challenging — the heat and humidity were intense and it was difficult to stay focused at times.

“The mixed doubles semi-finals and finals lasted nearly three hours, with only a short break before women’s doubles began.

“Despite that, it was a great experience. Women’s doubles was probably my favourite event of the weekend and I was encouraged by the level of competition throughout the tournament.

“It gave me a good sense of where my game is right now and what I need to work on, and I’m already looking forward to the next one.”

According to Ryon Outerbridge, the tournament director, the event was a success.

“The 2026 Deloitte Open Pickleball Tournament was one of our most successful events to date,” Outerbridge said.

“The tournament filled in record time, the weather co-operated throughout the weekend, and the level of play was among the highest we have seen in Bermuda.

“One of the standout matches of the tournament came in the 4.0 mixed doubles semi-final, where Melisa Judd and Benjamin Jones faced Lily Hallett and Jamie Stowe Jr, in a dramatic three-game battle.

“It was a match that showcased outstanding skill, composure under pressure and the competitive spirit that makes pickleball such an exciting sport to watch.

Julian Borchardt, left, and Lee Terceira, second left, were some of the junior players who enjoyed success at the Deloitte Pickleball Open (Photograph supplied)

“It was also encouraging to see the continued development of our junior players. Owen Stewart led the way with multiple medal-winning performances, while fellow juniors, Lee Terceira and Julian Borchardt, also reached the podium, demonstrating the bright future of pickleball in Bermuda.

Beyond the results, what made the tournament special was the atmosphere. Players, volunteers and spectators all contributed to a weekend filled with sportsmanship, camaraderie and great competition.

“We are grateful to Deloitte for their continued support and to everyone who helped make this year's event such a success.”
