Clarien promotes Buckley Pridham to senior banking role

Melissa Buckley Pridham, senior vice-president and head of personal and private banking, Clarien Bank

Clarien Bank has promoted Melissa Buckley Pridham to senior vice-president and head of personal and private banking as part of a wider restructuring of its banking and wealth management businesses.

The appointment takes effect on Wednesday.

In her new role, Ms Buckley Pridham will oversee the bank's personal banking, lending and private banking divisions, reporting to Simon Van de Weg, executive vice-president and chief banking officer.

Clarien said the changes are meant to strengthen its client offering and support future growth in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

Ms Buckley Pridham joined the bank in 2015 and most recently served as vice-president and head of personal banking, leading the personal banking and lending teams.

Mr Van de Weg said: “Melissa has played a key role in the growth of our banking business over many years and has built strong relationships with both clients and colleagues along the way. She is a thoughtful and trusted leader who brings a deep understanding of our business and a genuine commitment to delivering for clients.”

Under the new structure, Clarien's personal, affluent and private banking businesses will be brought together under a single leader, with the bank saying the move will strengthen collaboration with its wealth management and investment teams.

As part of the reorganisation, Miguel DaPonte, chief wealth management officer, will focus on expanding the bank's wealth management and investment businesses in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, including the growth of Clarien Bank and Investments Ltd in Cayman.

Mr DaPonte said the changes would create “clear accountability across both banking and wealth management” and position the bank for its next phase of growth.

Ms Buckley Pridham said she was grateful for the opportunities she had received during her 11 years at Clarien and looked forward to working with colleagues across the bank “as we continue to support our clients and build on the momentum we have across the business”.
