Supreme Court trial set for former senator
A Supreme Court trial for a former Progressive Labour Party senator accused of causing the death of an award-winning footballer by driving could begin next month.
Curtis Richardson, 50, has denied responsibility for the death of Pembroke Hamilton Club captain Marco Warren by driving a taxi without due care and attention on May 14, 2023.
Mr Warren, 29, a three-times recipient of the Bermuda Football Association’s Most Valuable Player Award, including for the 2022-23 season just weeks before his death, was found unconscious at the junction of North Shore Road and Trinity Church Road, in Hamilton Parish, and pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Mr Richardson, who served in the Upper House from 2017 to 2022, appeared in Supreme Court yesterday.
Puisne Judge Alan Richards adjourned the case to September 8, when a jury could be chosen for the trial. Mr Justice Richards extended his bail until that time.
