A woman wanted in the Philippines in connection with a murder charge was remanded into custody in Bermuda today.

Maria Theresa Jeremias Requerme, 27, is understood to have been in Bermuda since December.

The Filipina national appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning, when she did not consent to being extradited to the Philippines.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson scheduled an extradition hearing for Ms Requerme, who has been in police custody in Bermuda since Sunday, and remanded her until the case calls again on October 16.

A spokeswoman for the Director of Public Prosecutions said yesterday that Bermuda’s DPP office received a request from the Government of the Republic of the Philippines for the provisional arrest of Ms Requerme.

She added: “The request relates to criminal proceedings before the Regional Trial Court of the National Capital Judicial Region in Quezon City, Philippines.

“Philippine authorities allege that Ms Requerme was involved in the killing of Mauricio Ramirez Pulhin in Quezon City on June 15, 2025.

“A warrant for her arrest was issued by the Philippine court on September 24, 2025.”

According to a post on the Quezon City Police District Facebook page last October, two others were earlier arrested in connection with the case, with warrants issued for yet more suspects — one of whom has since been arrested.

Mr Pulhin worked with the Philippines House of Representatives.
