Butterfield Bank has launched a project asking residents to donate food to help people and families suffering hardship.

Staff are inviting the community to team up and support The Eliza DoLittle Society for its campaign, “Fill the Pantry”.

Until October 15, the public is encouraged to donate non-perishable food and pantry items at collection bins located inside Butterfield’s Front Street Banking Centre, Somerset Banking Centre and at The English Market on Front Street.

The campaign builds on Butterfield’s recent $30,000 donation to Eliza DoLittle, expected to provide about one month’s quality grocery support for registered households.

Butterfield hopes to stretch the impact of its cash donation by two additional weeks, raise awareness of food insecurity in Bermuda and provide a practical way for the community to get involved.

Welcome items include non-expired, non-perishable food and pantry items, including canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, cooking oils, coffee, tea and everyday essentials such as deodorant, toilet paper, toothpaste and soap.

After October 15, Butterfield employees will pack and deliver items the following day in recognition of the United Nations’ World Food Day.

Businesses interested in getting involved can house a collection bin of their own and are encouraged to e-mail giveback.BDA@butterfieldgroup.com

Cash donations can be made through The Eliza DoLittle Society website.
