A conference for the island’s administrators takes place later this month.

Administrative Excellence Bermuda, an organisation that helps administrators with career development and offers opportunities to attain professional qualifications, will host the event on April 24 at the Fairmont Southampton.

The conference theme is “Stepping up to the C-suite: the making of a rock star executive assistant”.

William Spriggs, one of the conference organisers, said Chrissy Scivicque, career coach, trainer and CEO of CCS Ventures, would be the special guest.

“Ms Scivicque is excited about coming to Bermuda on Administrative Professionals Day to help administrative professionals island-wide to take next steps towards achieving their fullest potential,” Mr Spriggs said.

“As a former executive assistant herself, Ms Scivicque, who now captains her own business as an in-demand career coach and corporate trainer, is well equipped to deliver daylong new skills and knowledge to our attending administrative professionals.”

Ms Scivicque, who is based in Denver, Colorado, said: “The theme this year is Stepping Up to the C-suite so if you’re an administrative professional and you’re looking to become an executive assistant you don’t want to miss this dynamic learning experience.

“If you’re already an executive assistant and you’re looking to upgrade your skills you need to be there too.

The daylong conference originally started as a way of honouring four administrators who passed the September 2016 Certified Administrative Professional exam.

The Administrative Excellence Bermuda team responded to the high demand to attend by hosting a special event for administrators island-wide and included the CAP awards ceremony as part of it.

This year, the conference will feature 14 new CAP awardees who passed the rigorous International Association of Administrative Professionals administered CAP exam, two of which have an additional Organisational Management specialty accreditation.

Administrators achieving the CAP certification put in four months of dedicated study on average and have to sit an exam consisting of over 300 questions within three hours.

In addition to Ms Scivicque’s special workshop sessions throughout the day and CAP/OM award ceremonies, attending administrators will also have networking opportunities, an end-of-day admin Jeopardy-style game show, corporate gift give-a-ways, continental breakfast and buffet lunch.
