Church's Back to School `wish list' started again
With September not to far off, the Prison Fellowship Bermuda is busy organising its annual Back to School Programme which aims to fulfil the school needs of the least remembered victims of crime - the children of incarcerated prisoners
This school supply drive is funded through donations to the Christian charity and is part of its mission to help out inmate's children by purchasing essential supplies for the coming school year.
Last year alone, over 80 children were aided by the charity's efforts to insure that the crimes of an imprisoned parent did not hinder a student's education.
Each year the Prison Fellowship Bermuda gathers information from incarcerated parents on the names, ages and caregivers of their children.
Based on this information the charity will contact each child and ask for a 'wish list' of school supplies.
Once the lists are returned the Prison Fellowship Bermuda will arrange sponsorships and fundraise in order to pay for the children's school needs.
In an effort to fund this year's programme the committee - Pastor Loyd Duncan, Ruby Dill, Marilyn Yorke and Lois Smith - are requesting donations from corporate sponsors, Churches and other organisations in order to fulfil the needs of the inmate's children.
Sponsors who wish to donate can call the committee at 295-3964.
