Correia claims jumping awards
Teenage equestrienne Riley Correia has been named Ontario Hunter Jumper Association’s champion in the Equitation Medal Division.
The 16-year-old, who has been competing on the A Circuit in Ontario, Canada, for the past two years, also picked up Jumper Medal Series award for 2013 at last weekend’s awards banquet.
Her achievements are all the more impressive considering that she missed a number of shows at the start of the season because of school commitments in Bermuda.
Correia, who trains at Stonewood Equestrian in Pickering, Ontario, honed her skills in Bermuda at Hinson Hall and Inwood Stables.
The former Warwick Academy student will remain in Ontario this winter to finish her schooling and prepare for next season, when she will compete in the 1.20 and 1.30 metres divisions.
Last season, she competed on her Canadian leased horse Perfect Timing, affectionately known as Romeo.
