Baptista banned from roads

A 26-year-old Pembroke man was yesterday banned from driving for a year after he refused to take a police breath test.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Ostoria Jonathan Baptista was stopped by officers on suspicion of drink driving on April 1 at 3.30am after his motorbike almost hit the Bird Cage on Hamilton’s Front Street.

Baptista supplied one sample of breath for testing, but refused to take a second test as required by law.

Baptista, of Pembroke, admitted the offence.

He was also fined $800 and a further $150 for driving without a valid licence.
