Some of the brightest teenage talents in Europe will line up against the Bermuda Under-15 side in a showcase game at Goose Gosling Field tonight.

The World Elite Talents side will include eight visiting “stars” alongside some of the top players from Kenny Thompson’s K-Tech Football Summer School presented by The Royal Gazette.

The two groups of players have trained together all week as part of the K-Tech programme, including Xavi who plays for Barcelona’s legendary La Masia academy and is considered one of the best players in the world for his age.

The 14-year-old, who is making his third appearance at Thompson’s summer camp, will be joined by David De La Víbora, of Real Madrid, Omari Hutchinson, of Arsenal, Denim Nnamudi, of Chelsea, as well as Ajax quartet Hakeem Agboluaje, Solomon Bonnah, Amourrichio van Axel Dongen.

Ajax trio Campagne, Bonnah and Agboluaje all debuted at last year’s summer camp.

Thompson, the BAA director of football, has no doubt the game will be an entertaining spectacle and provide the under-15 with superb preparation before their Concacaf Under-15 Championship in Florida next month.

“It will be great for the local [K-Tech] players to play alongside players of this calibre,” Thompson said. “It will be a big opportunity for them as well as the under-15 national team players.”

Thompson believes the involvement of more foreign players this year has helped ramp up the camp’s intensity.

“It’s always great having these guys here,” said the former Bermuda coach. “The group gets bigger each year and you notice the level go up right away.

“These guys bring a very high standard and the Bermuda boys respect and appreciate it, and raise their levels as well.”

The match kicks off at 6.30pm.
