Learn about Bermuda’s rich postal history since 1620

The Jackson School of Performing Arts presents 61st Annual Dance Recital, Cirque de la Danse. Jackson dancers Jessica Sinclair, Savannah Stubbs and Brittany DeSilva are high school seniors and this will be their last recital at the school.

Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art invite you to join them for the opening reception of the exhibition, Bermuda Postal History from 1620 to the UPU by David Pitts, on Friday, June 27th. The reception will run from 5.30pm until 7pm and the show examines how Bermuda fulfilled her role as the nexus of economic and social interaction with the Motherland as demonstrated by her postal communications.

The show is divided into five parts. The items shown have been carefully selected to show not only the most important pieces of Bermuda postal history but also with an eye to telling a complete and comprehensible story of the development of Bermuda’s postal communications. Expect some Canadian-style fun in the sun at the Association of Canadians in Bermuda’s (ACIB) annual Canada Day Beach Party at Warwick Long Bay on Saturday, June 28th. From noon until 5pm, there will be plenty of music, food and beach action. Membership is $20 and includes a BBQ meal and two drinks.

Discovery Wines will be hosting their final Wine Class before they take a break for the summer, entitled Kiwi Craze, on Saturday, June 28th.

From 1pm until 2.30pm, attendees will enjoy a flight of 5 New Zealand Wines, a delectable charcuterie sampling and an entertaining presentation that will bring you closer to being a New Zealand Wine expert. If you are aged between 6 and 16, love animals and being busy, then the Spicelands Fun Camp is for you! The camp will run weekly for ten weeks between Monday, June 30th and Friday, September 5th. Campers will learn all about horses, learn to ride if they can’t already, and enjoy afternoon fun activities and crafts.

Some of Bermuda’s best dancers will be wowing you with their ballet, jazz, modern, tap and hip hop moves as The Jackson School of Performing Arts present their 61st Annual Dance Recital, Cirque de la Danse. This will be at the Earl Cameron Theatre in City Hall from Wednesday, July 2nd to Saturday, July 5th, with showtime at 7pm nightly.

The cultural, community and early childhood education conference, Celebrating Our Children’s Brilliance: Cultivating Resilience and the Importance of Culture in Child Development and Early Childhood Education will be held at Bermuda College’s Hallet Hall from Wednesday, July 2nd to Friday, July 4th. This conference includes Bermudian and US professionals who will be joining together to present current research and dialogue about the importance of considering culture in order to ensure the resilience of our children.

The welcome reception will be at 6pm on Wednesday, July 2nd, with the workshops and presentations on Thursday and Friday, July 3rd and 4th from 9am to 4pm.

The conference will then conclude with a networking reception on the Friday from 6pm. The cost is $65 per day for workshops only, $50 for the keynote speaker/lunch on July 3rd, or $150 for the entire package, including lunch. Registered Bermuda College students may attend the workshops for free.

Part 3 of this year’s Summer Sundays will be on Sunday, July 6th, with the theme Rockin’ de Rock. The City of Hamilton has dedicated this edition to Mount Saint Agnes Academy in celebration of 125 years of service to educating our kids.
