A man who fell off his motorcycle in front of a police station and later failed a breath test was banned from driving this week.

Magistrates’ Court heard that a police officer outside Southside police station in St David’s saw Malcolm Cox riding a motorcycle at low speed along Southside Road.

Cox, 56, of Warwick, fell off the motorcycle on to a grass verge and the vehicle landed on top of him.

The officer lifted the motorcycle off Cox and asked him if he was all right.

Cox said: “Officer, you have got me. Just take me.”

The incident happened at about 10pm on August 4.

A breath test showed Cox had 199 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood — more than double the legal limit.

Cox pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo banned Cox from the roads for 18 months and fined him $1,200.
