Fray re-elected as BCB president

BCB president Fray

Lloyd Fray was re-elected as the president of the Bermuda Cricket Board at tonight’s annual general meeting held at Charities House on Point Finger Road.

The incumbent withstood a challenge from sole challenger Lloyd Smith, emerging victorious by a convincing vote of eight to three in a secret ballot for the top post.

Fray will continue serving as the BCB’s president until 2017.

Smith, who threw his hat into the ring at the eleventh hour, had garnered some support heading into the AGM but not enough to unseat Fray.

Fray, a former cricketer at Warwick Workman’s Club and Flatts Victoria Club, was initially elected as BCB president at the Board’s 2011 AGM after defeating Clay Smith, the former Bermuda captain, and Ed Bailey, who is a past BCBC president.

Gershon Gibbons, the BCB treasurer, was also re-elected to his post at the AGM after running unopposed.

Cal Waldron, Clay Smith and Lorenzo Tucker were the only three nominees submitted for the three club representatives positions up for grabs.

Waldron was returned while Smith and Tucker have replaced Sammy Robinson and Shervin Richardson, who both opted not to seek re-election.
