Deadline for Score report submissions extended

Heron Bay Primary School: could be shut down under Government's education reorganisation plan

Parents, teachers and other members of the public have been given more time to lodge their complaints over the possible closure of four of the island’s primary schools.

Wayne Scott, Minister of Education, said this morning that he had extended the school reorganisation consultation period until April 1, having originally set a deadline of Friday, March 4.

Heron Bay Primary School, St David’s Primary School, Gilbert Institute and Prospect Primary School could be shut down as Government ponders the school reorganisation plan (Score).

“The Ministry of Education has received many responses from parents, educators, and members of the community,” said a Ministry statement.

“The Minister also received requests from stakeholders to extend the period within which submissions can be made. As a result, Minister Scott has decided to allow more time for all stakeholders and members of the community to consider the Score report, the issues it presents and to make consultation submissions.”

“I encourage all those who may possibly be affected to participate in this process,” said Mr Scott. “I am reviewing the responses which have been made so far and look forward to reviewing any further responses made by 1st April 2016.”

Submissions on the Score report can be e-mailed to educationconsultation@moed.bm.

The report and the consultation document are available at www.moed.bm.”
