Curfew is still in place tonight, says Premier

No decision yet: David Burt, the Premier (File photograph by Akil Simmons)

A nightly curfew between 11pm to 5am will remain in place for now, according to David Burt, the Premier.

The curfew was imposed on December 12 following a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases on the island.

At the time, Government said the restriction would remain in place until today, January 4.

But this afternoon Mr Burt confirmed on Twitter that it will remain in place at least through tonight. He said decisions on changes to social distancing will be made at a Cabinet meeting tomorrow.

“Contrary to some posts, Coronavirus restrictions do not expire at midnight, they’ll remain in effect until changed,” the Premier said in a tweet.

“The Cabinet will review recommended changes to the restrictions at tomorrow’s meeting and an update will be given at tomorrow’s press conference.”
