Boston health team emphasises collaboration in cancer care
A team of doctors from Boston’s Mass General Brigham visited Bermuda to take part in a series of events celebrating the hospital’s continuing collaboration with the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.
During their two-week visit, they hosted a water stop at the 39th Convex End-to-End and cheered on participants at the Relay for Life as well as hosting a dinner at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
Mass General Brigham is a not-for-profit, integrated health system.
The event, themed “Bermuda and Boston: The Future of Care, Together”, was an evening of discussion celebrating the partnership between the two organisations.
Guests included Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, and doctors Chris Fosker, medical director and chief executive of the BCHC, David Ryan, the president of Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, and Adam Feldman, the chief of Mass General Brigham Urologic Oncology.
Darren Glasford, a prostate cancer survivor and patient, shared his health journey and his hope to encourage greater awareness of prostate health and PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) testing.
Dr Ryan said the relationship between the two organisations had become “deeply meaningful”.
He added: “What makes this collaboration so special is the trust that underpins it, along with a shared belief that geography should never limit access to exceptional cancer care.
“We are honoured to stand alongside BCHC as they continue to deliver outstanding support for patients and families across Bermuda.”
Dr Fosker added: “BCHC is committed to delivering high-quality cancer care locally, while ensuring patients can access leading specialist expertise when needed.
“Our relationship with Mass General Brigham supports collaboration, shared learning and care pathways that can benefit Bermuda patients.
“We were pleased to take part in an evening focused on the future of cancer care and continued progress for our community.”
