Relaxation: from breakfast to evening unwind

Cooper's Island has secluded beaches and is one of the few places on the island where you can genuinely disappear for a few hours (File photograph)

Not every great Bermuda day needs to be packed with activities. In fact, some of the best days happen when there's nowhere you need to be and nothing you need to accomplish beyond enjoying the island around you.

This is my version of the perfect Bermuda reset, a day built around good food, beautiful views, a little pampering and plenty of time to slow down.

Breakfast: Temptations, St George's

Every great day starts with coffee and for me that means Temptations in St George's. The Bay Breakfast Burger is a must, and whatever coffee you order is guaranteed to wake you up. I love starting here because the pace of St George's is always chill, especially in the morning before the ferries arrive. The town is still waking up, the streets are quiet and there's no pressure to rush. It's the perfect place to ease into the day.

Beach: Cooper's Island or Clearwater

My beach choice depends entirely on my mood. If I'm craving total peace and don't mind a little walk, I'm heading to Cooper's Island. The beaches are secluded, the scenery is spectacular and it's one of the few places on the island where you can genuinely disappear for a few hours.

If I'm looking for something a little more convenient, Clearwater is always a great option. I can rent a beach lounger, grab a drink from Sun Jammers, order something to eat and spend the afternoon moving between the beach and the shade. Sometimes convenience is part of the luxury.

Spa: Driftwood at Hamilton Princess

After a few hours in the sun, it's time to lean fully into the reset. For me, that means Driftwood at Hamilton Princess. A great massage has become one of my favourite ways to slow down. The combination of cool air, quiet surroundings and an hour where nobody needs anything from you feels increasingly valuable these days.

The best part is spending a little extra time by the pool afterwards. There’s no schedule, no urgency. Just a chance to sit still for a while.

Summer evening: 1609 restaurant is a place where you can enjoy a cocktail and a view of Hamilton Harbour (File photograph)

Cocktails: 1609

Once I've showered and changed, I'm heading to 1609. Few places capture the feeling of a Bermuda summer evening quite like sitting over Hamilton Harbour with a cocktail in hand as boats drift across the water. My order is usually a spicy margarita or a frosé, depending on my mood. The drinks are excellent, but the view is what keeps me coming back.

Dinner: Deja View

For dinner, I'm heading to Huckleberry. The outdoor setting, relaxed atmosphere and bold flavours make it one of my favourite places to spend a summer evening. This isn't a rushed meal. It's the kind of dinner where you order another drink, stay a little longer than expected and enjoy being exactly where you are. Summer dinners should feel leisurely, and Huckleberry gets that right.

The Alternative: a quiet night at home

Of course, not every perfect Bermuda evening involves a restaurant. Sometimes the best reset happens at home. On those nights, I'm picking up pizza from Clarabell's or Rustico, opening a bottle of rosé and heading to the back porch.

As the sun begins to disappear and the island quiets down, there's something incredibly satisfying about ending the day with good food, a glass of wine and nowhere else to be.

Because sometimes the best luxury isn't doing more. It's giving yourself permission to do less.
