July 9, 2012Dear Sir,Bermuda can be a top level place on the world stage for tourism, financial services and entertainment, if the Island is willing to take it to the next level and structure a bold look, vision and new marketing plan for all of Bermuda and not just parts of it. The Government and people of Bermuda must support and take action at every level. Let me explain:l Our attitudes and foreign workers’ attitudes must change towards each other. Bermuda is not a Third World country, so stop acting like it is. Get rid of the bad apples. We should have one purpose; strengthening the lives of everyone living in Bermuda. A country divided will not reach its full potential. We must set a clear path and put in leaders to take action and guide us to our goals.l The banking system in Bermuda must open up to everyone and needs smaller institutions to be developed and the existing ones to step up or get out of the game. We must become a truly world class banking centre. Small business loans with support from Government should be taken out of the hands of the banks especially when the banks have the loans 100 percent guaranteed.l International business is a strongly structured business and needs to be promoted and supported. We must be always vigilant to the pros and cons of global businesses.l Bermuda is wasting good natural resources for tourism and for the locals. We must build up and clean up our parks, forts, beaches and shorelines to a higher standard.Our tourism opportunities are enormous given we have some of the best natural beauty in the world. Tourism has to be developed around all of our natural resources, but we must develop them in a way that enhances that beauty and makes it accessible to all, plus plan new tourist developments. We seem to be too afraid to combine the two to enhance the total picture of our country’s beauty; we can and must do both. Tourists today expect a quality vacation and that means catering to all types and classes of tourist. Gambling must be part of the equation and does not have to go beyond its scope of entertainment and jobs. The church must get out of the way of the future and do their job in the community for their congregations. The church has its role to play and it is an important one but stopping gambling is not part of it. We are not all alike, respect the differences.l Our sporting facilities are a joke. It is time to improve them so the whole community can enjoy them. Indoor sports facilities are a must. Our clubs should be one of the pillars of our society. Change these conditions for everyone and our society as a whole will change for the better. We must change our attitudes and the way we feel about each other, local or foreigner, this will help us to become a world class destination for all.l There should be an explosion of water sports activities in Bermuda. We have the natural resources to be a world class water sports destination.l The transportation system in Bermuda has to adapt to the technology of today. Cars are not the answer, we must think outside the box on this one and look at all options.l Our energy and power supply system must change as soon as possible. Technologies exist today that can solve the problem.l Gangs: Are we afraid to deals with this? Bermuda is too small to allow this to continue. We must take bold and decisive actions to eliminate gangs in Bermuda.l Housing is a very important social component for our success and our high standard of living. Our thinking has to change regarding real estate and the way our economy and banks are connected to it. The way we structure mortgages and rents makes it very difficult to lower demand, we constantly keep the demand high to keep the rents high to help pay for the mortgages. That system is not sustainable. It will leave good hard working people unable to rent good apartments and always in need of higher wages which are unsustainable for businesses and result in labour disputes etc.Bermuda must start thinking on a global level. Our resources are too small to maintain a high standard of living for all. We can survive the future and generate other resources from outside of Bermuda. There is a new world that is been developed and we must jump on board now. The Bermuda Government must lead this Country into a future of globalisation for revenue for Bermuda. We have to think outside the box. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to bring Bermuda into that arena. I will put my skills, money, ideas and resources to help solve these problems, situations and social ills. I have already started. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
