Nothing polite about being a bully

Diallo Rabain: “polite racism” comment (File photograph by Blaire Simmons)

Dear Sir,

When will the Progressive Labour Party ministers refrain from attacking the One Bermuda Alliance representatives, showing themselves to be true bullies.

In today’s Royal Gazette (December 20, 2023), education minister Diallo Rabain actually used the expression “polite racism” when describing the OBA. What is this? Have we now reached a point whereby no one — unless they support the PLP — has the right to make a comment.

Just because Douglas De Couto had the temerity to make a comment to the effect that he hoped this new 15 per cent “windfall” tax would mean that — perhaps — our massive debt could be reduced, the reaction of some PLP ministers was truly spiteful.

In my humble opinion, it means that the Government has no intention whatsoever of reducing the debt; otherwise, why would it have reacted with such venom?

For the information of the PLP government, most responsible people in Bermuda would very much like to see our debt reduced.

Does this make us racists? Sorry, polite racists?
