Economic challenges are understood to be the reason for the decision to shutter the business, on Queen Street, on October 31.

Leisure Time opened in November 1994, when it was primarily operated by Jan Hollis and Norma Cross. For decades it brought the world of entertainment to customers. It was a popular place to buy or rent movies on video cassette and DVD. It also stocked compact discs, audio books, computer accessories, and computer gaming items.

The Royal Gazette has contacted the store, but was unable to reach Ms Hollis, the managing director, for a comment.

The store remains open five days a week, from 9.30am to 6pm. It is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
