Milaun Perott has been awarded the 2021 Legal Education Scholarship by the Bermuda office of international law firm Appleby.

The $30,000 award was one of four made by Appleby, which has been providing scholarships and bursaries for more than 40 years to qualified Bermudian applicants based on academic performance, community involvement and extracurricular activities.

The Legal Education Scholarship is an annual award for a Bermudian student studying law who plans to return to Bermuda to practice. The student also has the option to apply for summer internship opportunities.

Ms Perott will be attending The University of Law (London) in September, starting her Graduate Diploma of Law.

She attended Saltus Grammar School and then completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in law & business and minoring in economics, at Ryerson University in Toronto.

Egypt Cann is the recipient of this year’s Appleby/Berkeley Institute Scholarship, valued at $20,000.

The annual scholarship, with the possibility of renewal for a second year, is reserved for current graduating students of The Berkeley Institute.

Ms Cann will be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, majoring in human resource management.

Appleby awarded education bursaries, valued at $10,000 each, to Briana Medeiros and Jada Rogers-Ingemann.

Awarded annually, the bursaries are for Bermudian students studying at university who have the intention to return to Bermuda. Awardees also have the option to apply for summer internship opportunities.

Ms Medeiros will be attending the University of Toronto in September, continuing her studies in forensic science.

Ms Rogers-Ingemann will be attending the University of Kent in September, starting her LLB.

Appleby said its scholarship and bursary recipients have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience as summer interns.

This year, 2020 recipient Anthony Howell will join as an intern.

Tim Faries, Bermuda managing partner, said: “Appleby is committed to supporting Bermudian students interested in studying law or pursuing their undergraduate degrees.

“We congratulate Milaun, Egypt, Briana and Jada on their academic success and look forward to watching them fulfil their education and career aspirations.”
