Bermudian jobs in the forecast
weather.
The Bermuda Weather Service is currently training locals to be meteorologists and the eventual aim is for them to take over the service completely.
BWS manager Roger Williams said there were currently six Bermudian observers at the airport-based centre, completing a team of expatriate forecasters.
And, speaking at Hamilton Lions this week, he asked for any others interested in joining the staff to get in touch.
"The object is to train Bermudian forecasters and have them take over the show in the next few years,'' he said.
"We are really keen to improve the service and train young Bermudians, so if you hear of anybody suitable, who is qualified in maths and physics, we will be pleased to interview them.'' Mr. Williams outlined improvements in the BWS, including a new paging weather system, which will send a forecast to anyone's personal pager.
In addition, they are planning to update their radar system and revamp the website.
It would all go to aid forecasting, which was difficult on a small Island hundreds of miles from the nearest land.
"What we really need is as much data as we can get,'' he said.
