Internet security to come under focus
E-commerce and Internet security concerns will be addressed by two speakers at the March meeting of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), tomorrow evening at the 5th floor of the Bank of Bermuda's Compass Point building from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Melanie Burns of Logic Ltd. will address e-commerce. Ms Burns has 12 years of experience in international business development. Prior to joining Logic, she was with Digital Equipment Corporation, where she ran a division focussing on consulting and professional services for multinational customers.
At Logic, she has tripled the budget for web services and implemented the secure electronic gateway and certification with First Data Corporation. Ms Burns continues to work with multinational customers on offshore electronic commerce initiatives.
Walter Cooke, CISSP, of Paragon Bermuda Ltd., will speak on new Internet security concerns. Mr. Cooke has more than 28 years' computer experience in the intelligence, defence, telephone, health and financial communities.
He has a wide range of experience drawn from many years of work in both the public and private sectors, including the Canadian Communications Security Establishment, the Canadian Department of National Defence and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
At the ISACA April meeting, to be held on April 21, Martin Tickle, a senior consultant with Paragon Bermuda Ltd., will speak on contingency planning for Y2K, also at Compass Point, from 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m.
