The doomed ocean liner has maintained its grip on the world's imagination, and children in particular are fascinated by this adventure story.

Now the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute's Titanica Exhibition in their Ocean Discovery Centre is being pitched as an activity for kids who have just started their summer vacation.

BUEI advisor Steve Blasco, an ROV specialist and one of the first people to dive on the Titanic , provided many of the photographs for the exhibition. His work on the wreck made news when it provided new insights into why the ship sank, and also led to the discovery of several new species of ocean life.

Many of the photographs of the ship were taken at 12,000 feet, giving a rare insight into life at that depth.

The exhibition is arranged to tell the story of the Titanic and its demise.

"There are some pictures people will recognise, and some images which were used in the movie The Titanic . There's also the movie, Secrets of the Titanic , which is showing on a monitor in the exhibition hall,'' said Jackie Horsfield of the BUEI. Some of the permanent exhibits relate to the Titanic , she added. The Ship Wreck Gallery, for example, is filled with artifacts and information about the ships which sank off Bermuda, and there's even a cast brass window frame on display which is exactly the same design and make as the ones that were used in the Titanic's senior officer's quarters.

"Ships here are so easy to find in comparison to the Titanic , which is so deep and so far out,'' she noted. The Titanica Exhibition will run until July 25. The BUEI is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. every day.
