Bank issues email fraud warning
There is another bogus email circulating to customers of Bank of Bermuda in an attempt to trick them into revealing passwords and account numbers.
A warning has been issued by the bank to customers to watch out for the so-called ?phishing email? that claims to be from the parent company HSBC?s Internet fraud team.
Unlike a similar scam a few weeks, the new email does not make reference to the Bank of Bermuda directly.
?This attempt is relatively unsophisticated and, as such, it should be readily apparent that this is not a genuine request,? said Richard Brown, head of Bank of Bermuda personal financial services.
?However, the bank assures customers that under no circumstances would it send emails requesting confirmation of debit/credit card numbers, account numbers or personal log on information. Any requests received through email to validate personal information should be declined.?
Anyone with questions should contact their customer relationship manager at the bank or the ELO Services Team on 299-5959.
