Detectives probing a daylight attack that left a cab driver with a broken skull have arrested a man.

Police confirmed last night that a 37-year-old Smith?s resident had been held in connection with the assault on Winston Henry.

The taxi driver, 63, needed several rounds of surgery after he was injured outside Miles Market last Friday at about 5.30 p.m.

A Police spokesman, confirming the arrest which is understood to have taken place yesterday afternoon, added: ?Investigations into the incident continue.?

Witnesses should call Detective Constable Jason Ming on 295-0011.

Anti-fraud officers have seized a large batch of pirated movies.

Officials said a raid was carried out after a complaint was made by the Motion Picture Association of America.

Search warrants were executed after it was alleged that DVD copies of films were being produced and distributed for sale from a Hamilton city store.

The shop was not named in a statement issued by Government Consumer Affairs Department.

The statement said the search uncovered a ?large quantity? of forged DVD movies and ?significant? copying facilities at a Devonshire residence. A 33-year-old man was now assisting Police, the statement added.
