Pedestrian hurt in bike accident
A pedestrian and a motorcyclist needed hospital treatment after separate crashes on the roads in Pembroke and Southampton. The first ? just before 9 p.m. on Friday ? saw a car and a motorbike collide at the junction of Middle Road and Granaway Heights Road.
Police said it appeared the car was leaving Granaway Heights heading west and the motorbike was travelling in the opposite direction on Middle Road when the crash happened.
The bike rider, a 22-year-old Sandys man, received facial cuts and bruising to his body. He was said to be in a stable condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the car, an 18-year-old Southampton man, was not injured. Elsewhere, Police said a 54-year-old pedestrian was in collision with a bike at the junction of Reid Street and King Street, Pembroke, at about 5.30 p.m. on Saturday.
The rider was later charged with driving without due care and attention after Police said it appeared he failed to stop in time on a crossing. He has also been charged with using an unlicensed cycle, having no licence and having no insurance.
The pedestrian, from Pembroke, was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The rider, a 36-year-old from Southampton, who struck a row of parked bikes after colliding with the pedestrian, got a minor wrist injury.
