The public can voice their views on the draft Sustainable Development Strategy for an extra month.

Originally scheduled to end this week, the public consultation has been extended because of the huge amount of interest and a desire by Government to hear from those who have yet to speak.

Close to 1,400 people attended a series of public meetings on the draft Strategy recently.

And hundreds more have submitted their thoughts by telephone, email or by visiting the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU).

SDU Director Erica Smith said: ?Given the significance of the process we have embarked on for future generations, it is important to hear from everyone.

?As such we have extended the opportunity for public feedback by one extra month.

?This will allow us, and the RoundTable, to solicit views directly from the younger members of the population, for example.

?And those who have been off Island for all or part of the summer months can still be involved.?

?We started Bermuda?s first Government blog without much public fanfare just two weeks ago, and I?m pleased to see that so far it has generated a number of comments,? she said.

?I encourage everyone to make use of the facility where you can read and download the relevant section of the draft Strategy before posting a comment.?

A dedicated section on the new hospital was created on the blog this week.

Premier Alex Scott and Malcolm Butterfield the Chairman of the Sustainable Development RoundTable will be featured in a televised discussion with veteran journalist and former Bermuda Sun Editor Tom Vesey on Wednesday on ZBM television, starting at 8 p.m.
