Quiet Cup Match for Police
The Cup Match holiday weekend remained mostly incident free with no major crimes being reported to Police and the sporting event itself being described by a member of the Bermuda Police Service as mostly ?incident-free? from a policing perspective.
However, that good news has been tempered by a continuing abuse of speed limits on the Island during the holiday period with one speeding motorist being clocked doing more than 100 km per hour.
In a statement the Police said: ?Despite officers from the Traffic Enforcement Unit patrolling the Island?s roads and monitoring traffic flow during Cup Match holiday period, many motorists were still travelling well in excess of the 35 kph.
?The highest recorded speed was over 100 kph, with several clocked at 60 kph or more and others at 70, 80 and 90 kph. The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and drive with care, caution and courtesy on our roads at all times.?
