Trio arrested in Halifax on fake cash charges
Three Bermudians studying in Canada are accused of buying expensive electronic goods with fake $100 bills.
Wayne Howard Tucker, 20, Anthony Gaston Effs, 20, and Dean Martin, 22, were arrested after three stores in Halifax, Nova Scotia, told Police that suspects purchased and attempted to purchase goods with counterfeit $100 US bills.
A spokesman for Halifax Regional Police said the three men were arrested on November 3, 2006 as they exited the third business, a department store in Mumford Road, Halifax. This newspaper understands that among the electronic items listed in the allegations is a large flat screen television set.
Tucker, Effs and Martin, all of Brunswick Street, Halifax, are said to be studying in that city although no information was available yesterday on what institution they attend.
They are set to appear at Halifax Supreme Court on Thursday to enter pleas on charges of possessing and passing counterfeit money and conspiring to commit an indictable offence.
