Elbow Beach Hotel has added new CCTV cameras in order to improve security at the hotel.

The Mandarin Oriental managed property is putting safety first as part of its commitment to its guests and colleagues.

The CCTV upgrades to the property have doubled coverage across the resort to 36 cameras with a state-of-the-art digital command centre and a new electronic patrol monitoring system.

The hotel has also increased security officer coverage to a group of 20 and has a pre-existing entry and egress point alarm system and emergency alarms in high visibility areas.

Director of operations Donald Bowman said Elbow Beach continually sought to be an active participant in Island-wide safety and throughout the company the specialist knowledge of the Safety and security team is not limited with in the resort, but is also shared with external parties both locally and overseas.

He added: "As public awareness of safety and security increase, it is important that we continually improve our infrastructure to be a role model with our community in the areas of fire, life, health, safety and security prevention.

"Our recent upgrades are our commitment to ensure our colleagues and guests enjoy a secure and healthy environment, particularly in a luxury hotel environment where this is a key expectation for guests."

Takbir Sharrieff, the hotel's director of security, sits on the Bermuda Hotel Association Security Committee and the Occupation Health and Safety Committee and Assistant Director of Security, Chris Wilcox has just returned from a six-week secondment to help set up the security department at Elbow Beach's sister property, Mandarin Oriental, Riviera Maya, where he shared company best practices with the new team.

Frank Stocek, general manager at Elbow Beach, said: "Safety and security are one of the key influences when people decide to travel. All the continued efforts at our property are vital to our guest to maintain and protect Bermuda's reputation as a friendly and safe destination."
