Alert over stricken pleasure boat
several reports of boats in distress in waters just off Bermuda.
The power craft Paw Paws was reported overdue from a fishing trip around 8.15 yesterday morning.
Harbour Radio initiated a broadcast and cooperated with Marine Police, who used two vessels to search for the stricken pleasure craft.
After being located off Daniel's Head, it was learned that the vessel had been disabled and had been adrift for 24 hours.
It was towed into its mooring by Marine Police.
Another search began at around 3.20 p.m. yesterday for the fishing vessel Remedy , the owner of which radioed in to report that he had struck a reef just off Wreck Hill, Sandys.
Units rushed out to the area and towed the vessel, which had four people on board, to its mooring at Red Hole, Paget.
Finally, Harbour Radio received another distress call from the power craft Amigo which was disabled and adrift between the reef and the Challenger Banks.
The three-masted schooner Fleurtje , which was out at sea at the time, diverted to assist the vessel and stood by her side until Marine Police arrived and towed her into Ely's Harbour.
There were two people on board that boat.
