Road Safety Council goes online

The Road Safety Council (RSC) and Spiderweb Solutions have teamed up to build the site which will help promote RSC's Drive Sober programme that was launched in November.

Other programmes and information will be featured on the site which can be found at www.roadsafetycouncil.org.

"It's a wonderful way for us to end the year, since this has been the most pro-active year the Road Safety Council has ever seen,'' said RSC officer Roxanne Christopher.

The RSC theme this year has been community and family. It has -- and will continue -- to encourage the community to use designated drivers this holiday season.

"We're not saying not to consume, but if you're going to consume and partake in alcoholic activities over the Christmas holidays, just have a designated driver,'' Ms Christopher said.

The website will also offer recipes for non-alcoholic drinks and a list of restaurants and bars that are participating in RSC's drive sober programme.

Visitors to the website will be able to contact the RSC with a simple click of the button.

"Times have changed from the time where people wrote letters, printed them out and mailed them to us. Now they can just hit reply,'' said Ms Christopher.

"This webpage is here to stay. It will be continuously updated with the current programmes that we're holding at the time.'' The RSC has worked long and hard on this website, said Ms Christopher, spending long hours putting together the information for the site and then helping web master Bryant Trew figure out the direction RSC wanted to go with the project.

"We put a lot of time into this project in the last few months and it's something that RSC is proud of... The public will not be disappointed,'' said Ms Christopher.
