Elderly woman robbed on Saturday
A 76-year-old woman was mugged in broad daylight as she went shopping.
The woman had her handbag snatched by a male assailant as she walked from her parked car to the Garden Market on Serpentine Road at about 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The suspect ran off and escaped on the back of a red scooter, eluding two members of the public who gave chase.
The victim, from Pembroke, was not injured. Her handbag contained a cell phone, jewellery, cash and personal items.
The mugger was black, of medium build and average height with an unshaven beard. He was wearing an orange T-shirt and a black helmet.
The rider of the cycle was a black male wearing a black helmet.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Cabbie robbed
A taxi driver was attacked and robbed by a male passenger in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The 51-year-old cabbie picked up the man on Parsons Road in Pembroke sometime between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. and began to drive him towards Valley View Heights in Devonshire.
But when he stopped near Dunkley's Dairy to confirm directions the back seat passenger struck him twice on the head before stealing cash from his pocket and making off on foot.
The taxi driver, from Pembroke, attended the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
His assailant was described as dark skinned, about 5ft 9in tall, of solid build and wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
Police are asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Good Samaritan beaten, robbed
A Good Samaritan who went to the aid of a woman he thought was in distress was robbed by her and beaten by two male accomplices.
The 35-year-old man was in the Church Bay beach area of Southampton at about 12.30 a.m. on Saturday when he heard the woman calling for help.
He found her on the ground, apparently in distress. As he went to assist her, two men attacked him, one of them beating him about the body with a blunt object, while the woman stole cash from him.
All three attackers escaped and the man, from Warwick, was treated at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for an injured elbow and bruised leg, arm, back and chest.
One of the men was dark skinned, about 5ft 8in tall and of medium build with a round face, a moustache and a beard.
He was wearing a black shirt and dark jeans. The woman had on a pink top, white jeans and a black helmet with a full length tinted black visor.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Marine police rush to find surfer
Police undertook an extensive search for a 'missing' surfer at the weekend off the South Shore.
Rescue units from the Bermuda Police Service Marine Section were scrambled on Friday evening when a member of the public reported a surfer missing off The Reefs hotel, Southampton.
The caller saw the surfer head out at 7.15 p.m. but did not see him return, so then contacted the Police to report him missing.
A Police spokesman said: "Someone saw the surfer go out in the surf but didn't see him come back and so got fearful and called the Marine Police.
"Rescue units carried out an extensive search in quite dangerous conditions, due to the ten to 14 ft swells from the backlash of all these tropical storms.
"The surfer came back in at 7.50 p.m. and contacted Police as a result of the inquiry. He was never in any difficulty."
Police called to fight on Reid Street
Police were called to a group of women causing a disturbance early in the morning.
Around 3.20 a.m. on Thursday, Police attended a reported disturbance near the junction of Reid Street and Spurling Hill, in Pembroke. Officers saw a group of women in the middle of the road arguing and fighting with each other.
However, once the women noticed the Police, most of them quickly dispersed and left the area.
Those remaining declined to give any information when they were spoken to by the officers and promptly left the area.
On Wednesday evening Police attended a reported disturbance at the junction of Parliament Street and Victoria Street in Pembroke.
Officers spoke with several teenage girls who were involved in a verbal dispute. The young women said that no physical altercation had taken place between them.
Police told the teenagers about their behaviour and the young women left the scene.
Two accidents on Harbour Road
Police attended two accidents on Harbour Road where a vehicle received extensive damage.
At 3.p.m. last Thursday, Police went to the junction of Harbour Road and Lovers Lane, in Paget. It appeared that a sports utility van (SUV) was travelling west on Harbour Road when the driver, a 35-year-old Smith's parish man, lost control.
As a result the SUV collided with an embankment and overturned. The Smith's parish man was not injured. The SUV received minor damage to its right side.In a separate accident, a car and a truck collided on Harbour Road, which caused damage to both vehicles. Around 4.20 p.m. last Thursday, Police attended the scene at the junction of Harbour Road and Morgan Road, in Warwick.
It appeared that a car was travelling east on Harbour Road and a truck was travelling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided.
The car was extensively damaged while the truck received front-end damage.
Neither the driver of the car, a 22-year-old Hamilton Parish man, or the driver of the truck, a 27-year-old Devonshire man, was injured.
