Family Centre tag day is July 29
The day before Cup Match, volunteers for The Family Centre will be out in full force as a part of their annual tag day and they won't be alone.
This year, as part of their push to support family togetherness, tagging stations will be manned by parent and child teams.
"We're really focusing on the fact that we're a family-based organisation," said Dr. Sandi DeSilva, Director of Clinical Services for the organisation.
In addition to the traditional Cup Match ribbons, which will be available through the Island's gas stations, volunteers will be offering pens in Cup Match colours to donors throughout Hamilton and at Market Place stores.
Some of the pens will have a paint marking, which earn the donor a prize, such as grocery vouchers.
John Kephart, President and CEO of tag day sponsor Capital G, encouraged donations from the public.
"The Family Centre demands to be supported," said Mr. Kephart. "Despite the rhetoric, at the centre of our society is the family.
"In this economic situation, people are working harder to make ends meet, and spending less time with their families."
According to Dr. DeSilva, the Family Centre has seen a 60 percent increase in demand for its services in the first quarter of this year.
"Working with families is the real solution to the violence on our Island," said Dr. DeSilva. "Give generously, so we can provide a positive experience for Bermuda's young people."
