A teenager will go on trial this afternoon for the murder of 18-year-old Kellon Hill.

Kellan Jeurreau Lewis denies killing Mr. Hill on August 9, 2008. The teenager died from a stab wound to the heart as he left a late-night party at Elbow Beach.

Yesterday, the jury was chosen for the Supreme Court trial, which is expected to last up to four weeks.

Four men and eight women will serve following a selection process yesterday which lasted three-and-a-half hours.

From a jury pool of 60 members of the public, 41 were asked to stand down and another four were challenged by the defence and subsequently excused.

Potential jury members were presented with a list of up to 50 people connected with the case relatives, witnesses, Police or others and had to disclose whether they knew anyone in a way which could affect their impartiality.

Other reasons for standing down included vacation, family or business commitments.

The trial of Lewis is due to start today at 2.30 p.m. Chief Justice Richard Ground QC is the presiding judge.

Director of Public Prosecutions Rory Field and prosecutors Rob Welling and Carrington Mahoney will present the case for the Crown.

Lewis, 18, of Somerset, is represented by defence lawyers John Perry QC and Craig Attridge.
