Michael Crichlow named Tax Commissioner
Government has announced that Michael Crichlow is to be the new Tax Commissioner.
Mr. Crichlow replaces Heather Jacobs Matthews and will work under the policy direction of the Minister of Finance Paula Cox and under the general direction of the Financial Secretary to manage and coordinate the operations of the Office of the Tax Commissioner.
Mr. Crichlow started work with Government in 1994 as a tax examiner in the Office of the Tax Commissioner.
He remained in that position for six years and later held the positions of senior tax auditor and assistant tax commissioner, audit and compliance.
Mr. Crichlow was also the Department's training liaison officer for five years and had the opportunity to speak on tax matters to several business organisations in the community.
Ms. Cox took said: "I look forward to working with Mr. Crichlow and having his assistance in ensuring that the Office continues operating at the highest level of efficiency.
"The Office is a major revenue producing area and is responsible for collecting 50 percent of the Government revenues.
"It has enjoyed an excellent reputation with respect to the service given to both taxpayers and other Departments and we believe this will continue under the leadership of Mr. Crichlow."
Mr. Crichlow said: "I am extremely pleased that I have been chosen to be the Tax Commissioner and I am looking forward to the opportunity."
