KPMG donates $250k to hospital’s redevelopment

The Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust (BHCT) yesterday received a $250,000 donation courtesy of KPMG.

A spokesman said the donation will be used to help fund the $247 million redevelopment of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, and turn the hospital into a “world class” facility next year.

The BHCT’s Why it Matters campaign has set out to raise $40 million for the project. So far, the fundraising efforts have collected $28 million.

KPMG in Bermuda chairman Neil Patterson said: “Our employees and our families live in Bermuda and our firm has been an integral part of the local community for over 50 years.

“The redevelopment and expansion of KEMH is the most important infrastructure project for many years; it will improve the lives of everyone in Bermuda and future generations to come. As such, KPMG is very proud to support the construction of this world-class hospital facility through today’s donation.”

BHCT Chairman Philip Butterfield said the group were “deeply appreciative” of KPMG’s generosity, adding: “With KPMG’s support we are one step closer to achieving our goal of providing a world class standard of excellent healthcare through modernised facilities.”
