Man arrested after boat runs aground

A sailor was arrested after running his boat aground near the Spanish Point Boat Club on Tuesday evening.

A Police spokesman said that no one was injured in the incident which took place at round 10.15pm.

“The alleged boat operator, a 40-year-old Smith’s parish man, was arrested on suspicion of operating a marine vessel while impaired and inquiries into this incident are ongoing,” the spokesman said.
