A baby boy died on his first day at a daycare centre in a private home.

Detective Sergeant Renay Rock told a press conference: “We can confirm that that was his first occasion at this specific nursery.”

She was speaking after three-month-old Roman Edwards-Easton died on Monday.

Chief Inspector Na’imah Astwood said an investigation into the boy’s death was ongoing and she could not comment on the cause of death.

She added that a post-mortem examination would be carried out by the overseas forensic pathologist in Bermuda as a result of the death of American rugby player Mark Dombroski.

Emergency services rushed to a house at Swansbay Hill, Pembroke, on Monday after a report of an unresponsive baby.

Roman was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but was pronounced dead.
