ThinkMedia invites Bermudian academics and independent thinkers of all disciplines to participate in ThinkFest 2019. Deadline for proposals has been extended to May 15, 2019.

The conference takes place for the second time in August and September.

Designed to inform, provoke thought and showcase Bermuda’s academics and thought leaders, THINKFEST 2019 is an opportunity for presenters to:

• Build on their speaking and professional portfolio

• Network with others – including potential employers, funders and other independent thinkers and academics

• Engage in a collaborative learning experience

• Build and expand a public profile

• Share their knowledge and expertise

The format will be a 30-minute presentation, 10-minute interview with a host and then open to audience questions. Presentations will be video-taped for web and television broadcast.

Cancer researcher Carika Weldon who was among the first cohort of ThinkFest presenters is encouraging fellow thinkers and researchers to pitch a presentation.

She said: “As a presenter in the 2017 series, I fully encourage fellow Bermudian researchers to participate. It not only gave me an excellent platform to share what I love, but the ThinkFest team ensured widespread visibility including meetings with the Premier, Opposition Leader and the Governor.

“ThinkFest catapulted my visibility in the community which ultimately has benefited the youth through my Bermuda Principles Foundation getting more exposure.”

If you are interested in presenting, fill in the online proposal form by May 15, 2019. Visit https://think.bm/thinkfest/ for details.

The series is designed to showcase cutting edge Bermudian thinkers, and provoke debate and as such the topic is up to your discretion, but we ask that it be relatively recent research or a new approach to previous research you conducted.

The topic does not have to be about Bermuda; we are celebrating our academics and diversity of thought in a range of disciplines. Please pass on to any Bermudian who may be interested.

ThinkFest founder Ayo Johnson said: “We’ve already had a number of exciting proposals come in. But we thought we’d extend our deadline to give more people an opportunity to participate.”
