The 22-year-old, who studies at the University of Wilmington, North Carolina, will be looking for a repeat performance at Pomander Gate after winning his first crown there last year.

The man he beat 7-5, 7-6 in the 1998 final, Gregg Frigerio, is absent from this year's field, as is Bermuda Davis Cup player Michael Way, beaten by Frigerio in last year's semi-finals.

Top seed is the 1997 winner Ricky Mallory, out to claim his second title of the year after his victory in the Heineken Open, while Collieson is seeded two. Third seed is Brian Way and fourth is Eldon Daniels.

The top seed in the ladies singles is Heineken Open champion Jill Finnigan, just ahead of Federation Cup player Danielle Paynter.

Last year's winner Elizabeth Osborne has not entered, but the woman she beat in the 1998 final, Laverne Stowe, is seeded three.

Entries for the tournament, which runs for two weeks starting on Monday, are 20 percent higher than those for the Heineken Open at the Tennis Stadium earlier this year.
