As is was, the local duo caused `whirlwinds' of their own in winning titles, with Jennifer seizing her age group along with the women's overall prize, while Eddie was similarly first in his age bracket among the men.

Jennifer defeated all but two of her male counterparts in the combination running and shooting event and finished more than six minutes ahead of the nearest female competitors.

Her time was 21 minutes, 25 seconds, taking into consideration the two-and-a-half-minute time allowance to shoot down 10 targets.

She now has an overall record of two wins and one second place finish since taking up the sport last year.

The Carolina meet was one of more than 100 events taking place this year.

The Fishers plan to compete at the Biathlon Nationals in Pennsylvania next month.
