Bermuda Bicycle Association hope the race series, which begins at 12.30 p.m., will continue to help the sport grow in popularity.

Co-race directors are Greg Hopkins and Linda Dillon who want the event to become more of a fun and family affair resulting, they hope, in increased membership of the BBA.

Action will get underway with the Citizen's Ride when the emphasis will be placed on `ride' as opposed to `race'. This has been included on the programme to give an opportunity to anyone who wants to experience riding the race course in a group without the pressure of being in a competition.

Race officials are hoping to attract whole families to take part with pee wee races for children under-seven to follow the Citizen's Ride.

The course for all of the events will start at the Flagpole, travel east to Court Street, to Reid Street, west on Reid Street and left onto Queen Street and then back onto Front Street.

The main races of the day will be the popular IBC Sprint Championships which will showcase the Island's top speedsters on Front Street, starting at the Cenotaph and finishing alongside the Flagpole, and then the criterium races around the loop course to conclude the series.

Entry to the Citizen's Ride is free and racing bikes are not a requirement.

Pee wee races have a $2 entry fee, junior riders $5 and seniors $10.

Race officials noted that for all races, except the Citizen's Ride, entries must be completed and handed in at Winner's Edge by Saturday, March 8. There will be no race day entries and participants are reminded that helmets must be worn.
