Add in a women's international featuring the United States against England and all the ingredients are there for another memorable week of rugby.

"The huge television exposure we received last year has really galvanised interest in this year's Classic,'' said John Kane, president of the World Rugby Classic.

"We have had many requests from clubs to play here during the Classic week and these will be involved on the days when there are no Classic matches.

"There will be a couple of clubs from the United States, one from Canada and one from the British Army. Also, HMS Cardiff will be in port and will be involved.'' It is, however, the participation of a combined Portuguese/Spanish team, replacing France, which will bring an added flavour to the Classic and one which will be of particular interest to many residents of Bermuda.

The team will be led by Aleberto Malo, who captained Spain in last year's World Cup and has played 74 times for his country. Also included is Nuno Manuel Maciera Durao, one of Portugal's most experienced players, having represented his country on 49 occasions.

There is Bermuda interest in the Canadian team with the presence of Mark Wyatt, who was born in Bermuda and has played 29 times for Canada, including a stint as captain in the 1991 World Cup.

New Zealand have drafted in Peter Fatialofa, captain of Samoa in two World Cups, and Trevita Latailakepa of Tonga to augment their squad which will also include Jim Coe, captain of the New Zealand Maoris.

South Africa are also upgrading their squad to include Andre Joubert and James Small, both having played in the 1995 World Cup winning team.

The Classic starts on Sunday, November 12, with the finals and the women's international taking place on Saturday, November 18.
