Schools clash in repeat final
final between Dellwood and Whitney at National Stadium.
The match, which will kick off a triple header of schools finals at 6.00 p.m., is a repeat of last season's final.
When the teams met earlier this season, Dellwood came off best in a 13-goal thriller, winning 8-5.
Both teams reached the final with convincing victories, Whitney beating Warwick Academy 3-1 with goals by Dejon Simmons, Derek Brangman and Cecoy Robinson, while Dellwood thrashed Clearwater Middle School, thanks to a Reggie Baker hat-trick and a brace from Lynn Tucker.
Dellwood and Whitney will also contest the over-13 final at 7.15 p.m. In the semi-finals Whitney hammered Saltus 9-1, with Daniel Trott (three), Zuri Darrell (two), Dekimo Martin, Kanhai Woolridge, Keishen Bean and Chico Burgess scoring the goals.
Dellwood defeated a Spice Valley team missing six regulars 4-2, with a thunderous Levi Jones free kick the pick of their goals.
In the High Schools final at 8.30 p.m., surprise finalists Warwick Academy will take on unbeaten Berkeley Institute.
Somerset Trojans regulars Nasir and Nadir Wade spearhead the Berkeley attack and they beat Saltus 3-0 in the semi-finals with goals by Jarreau Hayward (two) and Shannon DeShield.
Warwick got past CedarBridge on penalties after a 1-1 draw in which Eddie Richardson was the Warwick goalscorer. Goalkeeper Steven Ambrosio made two fine stops in the shootout to put his team in the final.
RANGERS HOST MEMORIAL MATCH SOC Rangers host memorial match Southampton Rangers will host a soccer match tomorrow afternoon in memory of former player Patrick Edness.
The game, kicking off at 3.00 at Southampton Oval, will feature a team for former Rangers players against a team of former players from Paget Community Club and Hotels, for whom Edness also played.
Edness, who left Bermuda in the early '80s, was fatally shot in his native Jamaica last December.
His mother, Constance Edness, who lives in Bermuda, has donated a trophy to be presented to tomorrow's winning team.
`We're also hoping to raise some money from the match,'' said a club spokesman. "Patrick had children in Jamaica and with Christmas coming we'd like to be able to help them out.''
